Sonam Wangchuk Marks 14th Day of Hunger Strike at Jantar Mantar, Backs Students Demanding Accountability in NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak
Sonam Wangchuk has entered the 14th day of his hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, supporting students protesting the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. The demonstrators are demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, examination transparency, compensation for affected candidates, and accountability, while planning a march to Parliament on July 20 if their demands remain unmet.
The youth-led protest group has been camped at Jantar Mantar since June 20, calling for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. The protesters have also demanded complete transparency in the examination process, compensation for affected candidates, and action in response to the alleged aspirant suicides and widespread calls for a re-examination.
During the protest, Wangchuk rejected attempts to portray him as a hero, stating that the movement is about protecting the future of the country's youth rather than any individual. He also announced plans for a march to Parliament on July 20 if the protesters' demands remain unaddressed.

A peaceful march to the Indian Parliament.
Most countries in the democratic world are not only accessible but welcoming to general public. Most even have a protest place right in front, so there’s no reason this shouldn’t be possible in the capital of… pic.twitter.com/4u7YAd3O9z
The prolonged hunger strike has raised concerns over Wangchuk's health, with reports indicating a decline in his blood sugar levels. The protest has continued despite police restrictions at the demonstration site and criticism from some quarters over the relatively low turnout. However, student groups and supporters have praised Wangchuk's decision to stand with young aspirants seeking fairness and accountability in the examination system.
As the protest enters its second week, the demonstration continues to highlight demands for transparency, accountability, and justice in the wake of the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. With the Government yet to respond to the protesters' key demands, the planned march to Parliament could further escalate the movement and keep public attention focused on the future of affected students.
